File:Raquel_Oliveira_@_Festival_Flamenco_Lisboa_04.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Trains of Portugal -> Rolling stock of Portugal

Estou a pensar seriamente em limpar a categoria Trains of Portugal, ligando directamente à categoria Rolling stock of Portugal.

07:25, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

You must be kidding when you say that the black border (which is nothing more than the background from where the photo was scanned) is "part integral of an historical document". But ok, you want to have your way with those photos despite Commons regulations, and I'm not willing to bother with that. If I need some of them I'll upload new versions, since those that you insist to maintain as they are, with borders and all, are virtually unusable.-- Darwin Ahoy! 07:25, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello Tm and sorry for the wait, I should have gone straight to your talk page after the first revert.

I usually don't have a problem with uploading multiple copies of an image if there are significant differences. In this case there aren't, and I feel that it would be wrong to acquiese to your persistent reverting because you do not provide a good reason to reject attempts to make an image better. Wikis do not work that way. Your contributions will be modified mercilessly and not always according to your taste. In this instance, I am coming to you to say that you're wrong. I don't do this as an insult - although I am annoyed at the situation. Again, one file is but a fraction of the work that we do, but I want to know that it is a collaboration, and so far you have not provided a reasonable justification for dismissing my good faith effort at improving your work. Have you compared the images? Did you see what I did, and where? If you wish to have a discussion about graphic design then I'm all ears. But I do not want to respond to silent reverts.

If I upload this image after a different name it would be useless extra work as the previous revisions would be still accessible to interested parties. But suppose that I do, and that I change all instances of your image on other wikis to the new version I've uploaded. Will you revert me? Would you at least provide the courtesy of a good reason to do so? ˉanetode╦╩ 09:07, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

You said "(if you think that your version is best why dont you upload your version under a new filename and try to use use your version instead of this veriosn on the pages where this version is in use, instead of tryi[cuts off]". I have. Notice that you are reverting to an image that I uploaded. A previous attempt that took numerous reverts, another editor, and more discussion to replace your original upload. The latest version is an improvement of the previous cleanup. It corrects a number of errors and cleans up minute portions of the image. If you'd rather stick to your version, fine, revert to the very first one, and see how that upload never gets used anywhere because of the ruined contrast and off colors. In fact, why don't I just take a day off, come back, revert to the very first version (which you fought for as intensely as for not allowing me to upload an improved version of an image I had already edited) and nominate it for deletion as a broken image. Then I can simply upload over the redlink and avoid any unpleasantness. ˉanetode╦╩ 09:44, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Feeding the troll

[1]

If I correctly understand modus operandi of User:Fernrohr (also known as Allesmuller), she enjoys objections - or, perhaps, your time wasted in writing them. Sometimes I myself join an exchange with her, but then it's just for lulz. If you're serious about this deletion request - don't waste your time.

I might be paranoid, connecting all these "duralex no FOP in Russia" bites to the same person, but then they all speak alike, and their pattern of firing a short burst of DRs and then vanishing is always the same. NVO (talk) 11:40, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Beach (34)

Hi Tm, thanks for reverting at File:Beach (34).jpg and (30). However, please try to use edit summaries. Otherwise it is simply not clear what has been done. :) Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 02:13, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Ok, no problem and thanks for the tip. I didnt used the edit sumaries because i tought that (as i did) by using the reverting function it automatically filled the edit summary as it does in others wikis. I have some years in here and i´am still learning :) Tm (talk) 03:17, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
The revert function fills in "Undo revision 58115299 by Tm (talk)" but only if you use it for reverting one edit. If you make a diff over two edits and revert then it does not fill in anything. It is like this also at all other wikis (at least also on dewp). Of course it is different if you use a gadget. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 04:46, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

You have no right to simply remove a copyright problem tag. If you feel that the problem can be challenged, it is up to you to set up a DR. In no circumstance do you have the right to unilaterally remove copyright warning tags. Rama (talk) 09:38, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Case law

Here, you claim that case law was cited. The only case law cited dealt with a smooth, blue bottle, and has nothing to do with a complex image. It was pointed out multiple times that it simply does not apply. However, I pointed out that Satava v Lowry ruled that even when things are "natural" they can still be copyrighted - minor details can make an item unique and thus copyrightable. Ottava Rima (talk) 14:10, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

English versus Portuguese

I don't understand your insistence on creating categories in Portuguese on all the images in Wikimedia Commons. The rules in Commons insists on the usage of English in the category schema. I have methodically done so with all the Azorean-related topics, and you have begun to populate and systematically rename things into Portuguese. Wikimedia Common rules (specifically Commons:Language policy) notes that, although descriptions should be any language, categories should be in English. While I have accepted your insistence on using "freguesias" instead of the English variant (civil parish), this can not be the case for complete Portuguese-naming. Ruben JC (Zeorymer) (talk) 14:41, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Tm, I have already indicated that Portuguese-names are being used counter to the Commons:Language policy. As much as you may feel that the Portuguese name is correct, the rules at Commons (except for rare situations) indicates that English name variants should be used. I will, therefore, post further name alterations as in Commons:Categories for discussion. Being Portuguese, I would wish that the Wikipedia-like schema could be implemented in Commons, but until so, I would wish that you could follow the guidelines. Ruben JC (Zeorymer) (talk) 17:37, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Hi. A little notice. While I am tolerant for Portuguese names that have some sort of worldwide recognition such as freguesias, I am not for standard namings such as churches, castles, ... If need be, I will move and translate names myself. I've got to do that on Slavic parts and will not hesitate to do that on Portuguese items. --Foroa (talk) 07:39, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
No need for real discussion. Just post it on COM:DL. --Foroa (talk) 07:49, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Your persistent reverting to Portuguese-only naming is tiresome. I have already begun a process of name changes to go along with Commons:Language policy. Further, your refusal to respond my inquiries, in either language, belies a malicious intent or lack of consensus-building on your part. I will continue to post to the COM:DL corresponding subversion of the language policy. This is not Wikipedia, the rules for category names here (apart from exceptions) are predefined to the English language. Ruben JC (Zeorymer) (talk) 10:29, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

May I point out that concensus on Commons:Language policy is not required. English is the common standard. I will be bringing this to the attention of the administration. 83.240.154.46 08:59, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Category:Cathedrals in Portugal

Category discussion warning

Cathedrals in Portugal has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Nemesis

Strange. You have started to become my nemesis. Apart from your purposeful intention to not apply full English name changes, you now have specifically removed almost all my categorization. I do not understand why assigning location tags (by district or municipality) has become an issue. Users trying to discover chapels, churches, etc. by name, district or municipality should be able to find them, yet you have removed the "by district" and "by Portual" names. If there already exists a predefined statement on applying categorizes in the Portuguese namespace, I would like you to attempt to explain it, where its located, or at minimum respond to this query, in either English or Portuguese. Ruben JC (Zeorymer) (talk) 09:17, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Regarding the Category: Mount Penha, I believe it is: even at PT Wikipedia refers to the area in question as pt:Monte de Penha. The area is nothing more then a mountain, and too assume it has any legal standing as a territorial division is folly. Penha is a physical region in the civil parish of Costa, and should not be categorized as a location (as you have done so with the Penha, Guimarães: those designations are for cities and villages. The junta freguesia" for Santa Marinha da Costa also only refers to the area as part of the Serra da Penha and, not even a locality (lugar). If your problem is with the use of the term "Mount", I would offer any other alternative. Ruben JC (Zeorymer) (talk) 18:18, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
I see that a block has not dimmed your antagonism. In one fatal swoop you have returned to your old ways. Reverting all those changes is not going to win fans. You are going to push someone into forcing their hand and force all-English categories in the namespace. I already hear someone knocking at that door. And its not me. Ruben JC (Zeorymer) (talk) 10:52, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
Tm, your personal crusade against my edits is unjustified. I have placed the topics in the Portuguese namespace for discussion, and achieved consensus, while your initiatives and edit-warring has already received a rebuff from the community and a block. The lack of communication, in either language, is not going to have a good conclusion. I ask you to dialogue and explain your actions. Otherwise, I will have to request some form of intervention in the Portuguese namespace. Ruben JC (Zeorymer) (talk) 08:50, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Random rename operations

While I do agree with some of your rename requests, (some not, because they concern a single word international recognized name), my first priority is to get a consistent naming in each country and/or region. So I will not accept some partial renames here and there in a country, only a massive rename of all of them. Obviously, such massive renames have to go through a COM:CFD and we will only accept them if we have the people available willing to formulate and execute them all. So please stop issuing random rename requests for churches that have a name that are consistent with the names in their region/country. --Foroa (talk) 15:10, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

I can understand that you are frustrated and angry that some of your Category:Cathedrals in Portugal with very short names (Sé de xxx) have been renamed into names that are easier to understand for the majority of the Commons users. This however gives you not the right to insert hundreds of rename requests, either on COM:DL or through the {{Move}} template, using destination names that are in roughly half of the cases wrong. Renaming a category needs some careful checking about the use on other wikipedia's, what the real official name is; if the name is not a proper name or an accepted name in English reference works, if the name refers to a person or a place, how the disambiguation term should be punctuated, ... For example, only a part of the slots in Denmark translate to castles, some use manor or palace in their name as you can see in en:Category:Castles in Denmark. Considering the massive reverts, it is clear that I am not the only one with this opinion. So I urge you to stop your little revert war and moves to wrongly translated names. As indicated above, only a COM:CFD and some workforce can allow to execute such a significant job orderly and in a non disruptive way. Adding Interwikis to categories that need renaming results in significant time saving.
I noticed that, while you seem pretty fluent in English, you seem to avoid discussions. This does not mean that I will keep talking in the emptiness. --Foroa (talk) 15:28, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

I am sorry to inform you, but you have been blocked for continuous editwarring without discussing the subject, even after several users have complained about your behaviour. Please understand that this is not the way users should act on this project. With a disagree the subject should be discussed in stead of editwarring. You refer also to a policy, and reading that policy it isn't mentioning proper names, and you keep up saying it is without giving a direct quote where it is stated that it counts for proper names too. Also several users have made several complaints about the titles of the categories you wanted, and still you keep on going ignoring those complaints. If you continue next week with your actions again, without discussing them first and without reaching consensus, you will be blocked for a longer period. I hope you will take the complaints seriously. In the mean while you can discuss this matter here on your talk page. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 16:34, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

  • As for proper names they are implicitaly mentionated as the language policy is completely clear as it mentions that "Gallery names should generally be in the local language. See Commons:Galleries for the exact policy. Category names should generally be in English. See Commons:Categories for the exact policy." I find hard you as an administrator contradicting this policy, reverting (and abusivaly deleting 3 times and so by it entering in edit warring, and after that blocking me) the Category:Church of Saint-Georges, Limbourgthat was moved from Category:Église Saint-Georges, Limbourg (as you might know the french Église is the same as the english church. You accuse me of editwarring, but might i ask who started reverting edits of whom (just one example) as i started making {{move}} commands instead of simply moving the categories and by it giving oportunity to people manifest their opinions of better translations to this categories, but instead i get reversions of my edits and the attempt to silence and censoring this discussions (except in the chateaus, that, after you reverted, i realized that are a term used in english). Your behavior is completly unnaceptable of an administrator, and i tell you that your edit warring (that circunvents commons policies and that yourself started) and abusive blocking will be reported. Tm (talk) 04:11, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
    • You keep referring to a non-existing policy, but your own made-up policy. The policies and guidelines clearly state:
...(see Commons:Language policy). However there are exceptions: ... proper names. Period. Insisting on refused, incorrect, non-policy is not helping your credibility.
Unblock request declined

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without discussion.

Request reason: "Abusive blocking by edit warring administrator because of circunvention of Commons:Language Policy, reverting my {{move}} commands and by it censoring all possible discussions of what better translations to english might be made to several categories presently in french, dutch, spanish, danish and other languages, accusing me of not making discussions when another administrator told of this policy that there was "No need for real discussion. Just post it on COM:DL." (and after somes days contradicted himself) after i started making this move requests. See above for all the details "Random rename operations" and "English versus Portuguese" for all the hipocrasy and double stardards. Tm (talk) 04:11, 5 November 2011 (UTC)"
Decline reason: "This block has expired - you are free to resume editing. Please take care to avoid the behaviour that resulted in the block. WJBscribe (talk) 13:19, 12 November 2011 (UTC)"

Strong oppose - this user is currently block for only 1 week, for insisting to harm this project editwarring and try to push non-policy, objected, refused moves. These 1-man actions are disrupting the project and are rightfully block. Refuse any common reason, and continues with editwarring, revenge actions, and attacking the admins who are merely projecting this project. A clear illustration is the unblock comment above, where -again- he refuses to reflect on his own misbehaviour, but chooses for attacking the admins.

And even if you translate, translations should be *correct*: what you do is "constructing" your incomplete, incorrect names which are a messy mix-up of multiple languages and often wrong. Very amateuristic and certainly not helpful to any commons user. That's a typical example of what is called Original Research on Wikipedia, and even an incorrect. Even English language literature (take some history books or tourist guides for example) frequently uses foreign-language proper names for various buildings, so people known what they are talking about: thát's an example of real world usage. Using English language for categories is a policy to allow people finding certain subjects on wikipedia (e.g. "number signs", "basketball teams", "old photographs" of whatever). And as the purpose is to find subjects, using a *proper name* is often the way to find subjects that are usually referred by their specific name in local literature, heritage inventories, tourist guides, etc... That's why they're is a Category:Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, Category:Sagrada Família, Category:Reichstag_(building), etc... because those are the *proper names* of the buildings. Inventing own names that aren't used by literature isn't helping commons and often makes no sense.
When after various people have made objections and clearly proved you wrong, you keep insisting on disrupting commons by random, ad hoc, revenge-driven, non-policy, thoughtless, incorrect, revenge-driven mass-actions, you're clearly harming this project. This doesn't help commons to make it more accessible - on the contrary, this is not they users co-operate. Such 1-man-actions make a mess of the structure that 1000's of people have been building the last 5 years and more. And when 1000's of people hadn't had any problem whatsoever these last years, but you as a single individual think you'd have to enforce your own private policy, it's a signal you should take some take and look at yourself. --78.23.192.206 17:18, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your error report!

On behalf of the US National Archives, I'd like to thank you for reporting the error you found in their catalog records; your report is now archived. The change has been applied to NARA's catalog by a staff member (see [2], [3]), and I have updated the Commons image descriptions accordingly.

Work like yours is valuable because you are helping to improve the quality of NARA's metadata for all its users, and, by adding value back to NARA's holdings, we can demonstrate the usefulness to them and others of contributing content to Commons. Thanks! Dominic (talk) 18:44, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Hello!

Some of your recently uploaded images (with flickr upload bot) are duplicates of existing files. Please check files that you want to transfer from flickr if they are already on Commons. Thanks in advance. --High Contrast (talk) 09:29, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

  • Hi High Contrast. Thanks for deleting the images that i uploaded as duplicates. I thought that the Flickr Upload Bot had a duplicates checker that worked all the times and automatically warned the user, as it as been several times that this tools warns me that I'm about to upload a duplicate, but strangely that warning didn't appear in this 5 cases. In any case thanks again and sorry for the inconvenience. Tm (talk) 11:38, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Hello, you have added an image above to Wikimedia Commons, i would like to thank you for making this project develop and grow. Unfortunately it seems that it has been nominated for deletion, this means that it can be deleted due to the fact that it is partially sexual in nature. Do not feel disheartened, many of the sexual images are kept here, and hopefully this one will also. But i thought that you might be interested that there are projects which are more interested in sexually explicit and freely licenced material, like Freedom Porn which distributes its content under Free Art Licence or in public domain. You may want to check it out and see if you would be interested in uploading there as well as here. VolodyA! V Anarhist (talk) 2011Dec12 10:31

What of the license in flickr stream you dont understand or the fact that it says "Getty Images for Heart Truth" as in Getty Images took this images as hired by the Hearth Thruth, as the others years it had several photographers hired to cover their annual fashion shows. Stop of what your making assumptions agaainst an american federal government that it cant license the works that it got for hire and it can dispose of their copyright as it pleases. Please stop uploading more images from this Flickr account. It's hardly credible that they are entitled to offer for free the same images that are fully protected and sold by the image agencies. Besides, it is only the Flickr user who claims them to be US-Gov work, none of the image data say so. --Túrelio (talk) 16:18, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Categorisation referring to (p.e.) India

Hi, please use useful categories and don't over-categorize images, i.e. please do not categorize your uploads (an example of your recent activity):

Category:India +

You'll help to save time and capacity on commons by categorizing p.e.:

Category:Shanta Durga temple

Please use as far as possible the category of the regarding city/town/village or district (if there's no category) etc., or, a localized better 'fitting' i.e. the 'most fitting"' category(ies). Do not add - in addition - the categories of the "parent category", among them cities, states and countries etc.

For further information on categories please read Commons:Categories referring to an accurate categorisation, simplifying your further uploads and categorisation in general. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the commons:help desk.

Map of distribution of reindeer

Per your edit summary, how do you propose this to be done? I have already commented on the talk page. The image that is inaccurate (even though the source should be considered a RS), is far worse than the current map we're using, which happens to be accurate. Reindeer are numerous in the countries I have mentioned, but are barely represented in the poorer map. I have lived in Greenland (and hunted reindeer there) and traveled in these countries. There is abundant evidence that those countries have reindeer. Although personal experience is interesting, I learned much more about the subject while researching an article I wrote: Reindeer hunting in Greenland. -- BullRangifer (talk) 22:14, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Overexposed

Hi!

You've reverted some photos I edited, according to the summary because the were overexposed. Some of them may be overexposed, it depends, but for example this: File:Bf Córdoba C, 91-30 027.jpg, do you think that my version is really overexposed? I only made a histogram equalization, I didn't change the exposition. I have to know it because I have to know if my screen is not well calibrated or it's just different likings.

Image of Tiziano

¡Hola Tm!

Saludos. Manors in Portugal

23:33, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

"Reverted to version as of 00:10, 2 February 2009 please upload your version under a new filename" - why so?? My version is clearly within the Commons:Overwriting existing files guidelines: "As a general rule, use the link "Upload a new version of this file" only for relatively minor improvements. Examples include .... rotation of images of that are not upright". I can see no good reason for retaining the tilted version separately. - MPF (talk) 01:28, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Cemitério dos Judeus

Posso saber qual a razão destas movimentações agora?

Agradeço que leia o que aqui está: Names of Commons categories should be optimized for readers over editors; and for a general audience over specialists. / Category naming should prefer what the majority of English speakers would most easily recognize, with a reasonable minimum of ambiguity, while at the same time making categorization of media files easy and second nature.

21:05, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Names of categories

Hi.

Per COM:C, "Category names should generally be in English (see Commons:Language policy).". Therefore the main category should be Category:Lusophony Games. We can have a redirect from Category:Jogos da Lusofonia to this category. Cheers. Badzil (talk) 19:57, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Please discuss before reverting. Badzil (talk) 20:24, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
How is this category in portuguese of a an sports event participated only by portuguese language countries or regions different than this two categories in french created by you only 12 days ago: Category:École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr (Saint-Cyr-l'École) and Category:Centre d'entraînement aux actions en zone urbaine (see [5] and [6]). Tm (talk) 20:34, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Please, feel free to change the name of these categories. Now, why do you consider Category:Jogos da Lusofonia to be an exception ? Badzil (talk) 20:37, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
So creating categories in french about a french institution 12 days ago is ok but creating inmarch of this year a category about a sports event composed of portuguese language countries or regions athletes is not ok. Also there is an exception in the English Wikipedia for the Jeux de la Francophonie (the same for the french language countries as the Jogos da Lusofonia are to the portuguese language countries) as the article in the English Wikipedia are in the french language (see Jeux de la Francophonie). So i ask you if the English Wikipedia conserves the french title to the Francophone Games (see also the title in en:Category:Jeux de la Francophonie why is it that Jogos da Lusofonia is not an exception? Tm (talk) 20:53, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
"So creating categories in french about a french institution 12 days ago is ok" Did I say that it was OK? No, I never said that. I said that you should feel free to modify these category names if they bother you. What Wikipedia applies for language rules is irrelevant here.
"creating inmarch of this year a category about a sports event composed of portuguese language countries or regions athletes is not ok" Considering that the category with the English name has been created 2 days before, then yes, it is not OK. Badzil (talk) 20:59, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

People of

Hi. Per Commons:Category scheme People, the People of cats are reserved for people "originating from or residing somewhere". Since most of the people in Category:Displaced persons in Kenya are recent migrants to Kenya from elsewhere (i.e. People in Kenya), they thus do not belong in the People of Kenya category. Paris homeless image

Since you removed the notice that more translations are below (see edit) from File:HomelessParis 7032101.jpg, does that mean you want all of the translations added? There are additional translations in the "picture of the day" tab that are not present in the image description itself Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 14:58, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

Igreja Matriz Estoi

Dear Tm, the church in the picture File:Estoi_2.JPG is not in Faro but in Estoi, is it not? So the picture should be categorized in Category:Churches in Faro (district), not in Category:Churches in Faro, should it not?! So I reverted your revert. Nol Aders (talk) 11:34, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello!

Do not revert again without having a good rationale. --High Contrast (talk) 14:05, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

Please read Commons:Overwriting existing files and you will learn that such rotations fall under "Minor improvements". Regards, High Contrast (talk) 19:22, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

Red Bull Air Race images

Hi, I note that you repeatedly re-add images to category:unidentified aircraft after I have deleted them from there. In each case, I have concluded that the images are of such poor quality that the aircraft are unidentifiable, and should not therefore remain in that category. There are many other images of higher quality that adequately illustrate Red Bull air races and aircraft. If this situation continues, I plan to nominate many such images for mass deletion, citing Commons:Project_scope#Must_be_realistically_useful_for_an_educational_purpose that lists similar examples such as unidentifiable birds. Please re-assess all such images and take corrective action, thank you. PeterWD (talk) 11:47, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Francamente.-- Darwin Ahoy! 13:46, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

Template:Autotranslate

  • Template:Info -- Let me try to explain. The main purpose of categories is to classify images according to their subject - dogs, men with red hair, damaged cars or whatever - in order to facilitate their retrieval by potential users. We don't use categories for geocoding. To geocode an image, i.e. to specify the geographic coordinates of the camera or subject, one uses the "Location" template. In the case of your images the subjects are clearly not streets in Faro, but something located there: a dog, a man and a car. Of course, we can use the category "Streets in Faro" to classify an image, but only when its main subject is a recognizable street in Faro. We can even create a category with a specific street, whenever that is justified by its importance or large number of pictures. However we should keep in mind that categorization serves a useful purpose, which is to facilitate the retrieval of media, and that over-categorizing usually works the other way around. Please confirm that you have fully understood the principles involved and are willing to act accordingly, so that your block can be removed. Alvesgaspar (talk) 10:43, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Elevador do Lavra

This is not what you seem to think it is.

Discussion about you

Hi.

You might want to come express your opinion here: Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems#Tm (talk.C2.A0.C2.B7 contribs) continues edit-warring without discussion. Badzil (talk) 13:46, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Oi!

Thank you so much for all your hard work uploading and categorizing all of the images in the Philips advertisements category. Together, they are a really nice set. Thanks again and take care! Michael Barera (talk) 06:52, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
