Hey this is a genuine baseball rag, and not a bad one at that. I found it in the Library of Congress Baseball Sheet Music Collection and is the third of five baseball scores written by women in this series. (I have no information whatsoever on who Mata Wulff was, and am assuming this is a female name). Self-published in Indianapolis in 1910. This rag uses constantly repeating patterns to create its effect, and reminds me a bit of the "Doherty Rag" by Harry Stephenson which was published later, in 1913. See link: https://musescore.com/user/36482158/scores/6991856 Link to US Library of Congress Baseball Sheet Music Collection portal: https://www.loc.gov/collections/baseball-sheet-music/about-this-collection/ Score #109 in my current ongoing series "Women Ragtime Composers" featuring interesting scores all written by ragtime era women. Many more coming, see set link below for entire collection. Original score source was from the Library of Congress website (no pdf) and from www.ceder.net/piano at this link: https://www.ceder.net/piano/download_pdf.php?Id=13176 This is a reproduction of the original score, no changes made. |
