Thanks for uploading File:Logotype de la commission des Affaires économiques au Sénat.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Your mass transfers to Commons[edit]

Hi Grandmaster Huon, I noticed that you have been transferring lots of files from de.wikipedia to Commons. However, in most cases you don't do any cleanup work (removal of nonexistent templates, replacing red categories, etc.). I urge you not to leave this task to others. You may want to start with e.g. Category:Datei:Commonsfähig and Special:Search/"unknown parameter anmerkungen". --Leyo 21:08, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a big deal, the file is still usable, and the basic elements are still intact. Grandmaster Huon (talk) 22:23, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No. For example, the information provided in the de.wikipedia parameter Anmerkungen (see above) is not shown on Commons. --Leyo 22:56, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How do we port the Anmerkungen function into commons? ask the wiki devs. Grandmaster Huon (talk) 22:58, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It depends on the content. This is a possibility. Another one is:
|Other fields={{Information field|Name=Remarks|Value=Text in Anmerkungen}}
--Leyo 23:11, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why not have a robot do that (|Other fields={{Information field|Name=Remarks|Value=Text in Anmerkungen}}) to replace Anmerkungen? Grandmaster Huon (talk) 23:35, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You could use AutoWikiBrowser or VisualFileChange. Alternatively, you may ask for help at COM:BWR. The issue of the red categories is still there anyway. --Leyo 00:03, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Grandmaster Huon, I have seen the request by @Leyo and ask you as Commons administrator to follow the clean up steps written down on page Commons:Moving files to Commons. To hope that someone else will do the clean up in the future is not very nice. Otherwise I have to block your file actions. Thank you for understanding. Raymond (talk) 07:00, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll do it myself, thank you. Grandmaster Huon (talk) 14:34, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Raymond (talk) 15:21, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

Hello, when moving files to Commons make sure you know what's depicted in the file and add one or two categories, so people can actually find those files.

Especially if the file is orphaned, it is usually easier to find out what the file depicts exactly when it is still on the original wiki, as you can easier access the contributions of the uploader and see to which article it was added and in what context. TheImaCow (talk) 14:57, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but it is too tedious to manually add categories during mass transfers, if they see an orphaned file, they can add categories in their own time, there's no need to hurry there. Grandmaster Huon (talk) 17:08, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We have plenty of quality images as it is. ;) Grandmaster Huon (talk) 17:09, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Using HotCat it's pretty simple. Ideally, the article where it is/was used has a "Wikimedia Commons" link in the sidebar, then you can put it into that category, otherwise ask: What/Who is depicted? and/or When was the image made?. And type that into the HotCat search field.
Otherwise other people have to do that at one point for you. See Category:Uncategorized files - there are over 500,000 uncategorized files already - and that's only the ones which are tagged as being uncategorized. Apparently the bots who did that tagging are dead, so there are much more files which are completely under the radar. Intentionally adding tons of more files onto that backlog is a bad idea.
If the images are of low quality, than it is better to not transfer them at all - instead, on english WP, propose them for deletion (using w:WP:PROD), or use the specific process on whatever wiki you're on. I have, for example already proposed over 1000 files on ENWP for deletion, mostly because of being unused/low quality/higher quality aviable, and almost all have been deleted - instead of rotting somewhere on commons. TheImaCow (talk) 18:08, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Note that there are also categories such as "Unidentified buildings, vehicles, men, plants, cat breeds", etc. Adding such categories is still better than no categories at all. But also many of those categories have huge backlogs, such as Category:Unidentified logos with 120,000 files. TheImaCow (talk) 18:11, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Let a bot do that, life's too short to be doing all that tedious work. Grandmaster Huon (talk) 18:52, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Proper categorisation is a key aspect of commons, and not just a "nice to have" thing. And while I agree that there are many categorisation schemes which more or less easily could & should be maintained by bots such as "Number XXXXX on objects", "People wearing XXXXX (color) YYYYY (clothing) in ZZZZ (country)" or literal 100,000s of subcategories of Category:Color combinations, some things have to be done manually.
Don't forget that spamming the "Export to Wikimedia Commons" button is the task which would be the most easy one to do for automated bots. (And it has already been done with 100,000s of files, see here) TheImaCow (talk) 19:50, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but FileUploadBot isn't working anymore see User contributions for File Upload Bot (Magnus Manske) - Wikimedia Commons. Grandmaster Huon (talk) 18:28, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bevorstehende Löschung „Playmobil Luther (bearb Sp).jpg“[edit]

Also: Macht was Ihr wollt. Wenn Löschen Spaß macht, gönnt Euch das Vergnügen. Wenn Ihr aber das Bildchen behalten und Euch ganz sicher keiner Urheberrechtsverletzung schuldig machen wollt, fragt bei Playmobil an.
